Pickleball is becoming one of the fastest growing sports in the world – and in Vietnam, this sport is also attracting a large number of players of all ages. To have standard shots and good playing feeling, choosing the right pickleball ball is the decisive factor. Join OSUNO to learn in detail about the structure, classification and how to choose the right ball for each level.
What is Pickleball?

Unlike tennis or badminton balls, pickleballs are made of hard plastic, hollowed out with many small holes to help control the direction and speed of flight. The standard diameter of the ball is about 74 mm, weight from 22-26 grams, ensuring stable movement and easy control on the court.
Pickleballs are designed to allow players to control precisely and react quickly, providing a satisfying feel without being too heavy or fast like tennis.
Current Pickleball Classification
There are two main types of balls on the market today: Indoor and Outdoor. Each is designed differently to suit court conditions and playing style.
| Criteria | Indoor Ball | Outdoor Ball |
| Number of holes | 26 large holes | 40 small holes |
| Weight | Light, slower moving | Heavier, more stable in wind |
| Material | Soft plastic, reduces bounce | Hard, durable plastic |
| Outstanding features | Easy to control, suitable for beginners | Fast speed, stable trajectory |
| Suitable pitch | Wooden floor, PU floor | Concrete yard, cement yard, outdoor yard |
| Feeling of playing | Smooth, flexible, low noise | Tense, firm, strong |
| Durability | Lower, used in training | Taller, more suitable for competition |
| Suggested products | OSUNO Pickleball Indoor – lightweight design, stable control | OSUNO Pickleball Outdoor – meets competition standards, durable and keeps its shape well |
Choosing the right pickleball ball can significantly improve the player’s experience and performance. If you often practice indoors, prioritize OSUNO Indoor for a soft and easy-to-control ball feel. On the contrary, if you compete or play outdoors, OSUNO Outdoor will ensure maximum stability and durability in all weather conditions.
Competition Pickleball Standards
A competition-grade pickleball is not simply “round and bouncy,” but must pass a series of rigorous tests for size, weight, bounce, balance, and surface quality. These standards are set by the International Pickleball Federation (IFP) and the United States Pickleball Association (USAPA), the two organizations that have laid the foundation for the sport globally.

1. Standard size and weight
OSUNO pickleballs are manufactured using two technologies: TPE injection molding and PE rotational molding, ensuring optimal durability, bounce and control.
- TPE injection molding ball :
- The 40-hole type has a diameter of 74 mm and weighs 24–26 g.
- The 26-hole type has the same 74 mm diameter but is lighter in weight, around 23–25.5 g, suitable for indoor competition.
- Rotational molded PE ball :
- The 40-hole type has a diameter of 74 mm and a weight of 24.5–26.5 g, providing high stability when flying and a more solid hitting feel.
These parameters are strictly controlled by OSUNO during the production process, helping the ball achieve optimal balance, fly stably in windy conditions, while providing a solid feel and high accuracy in each hit.
2. Bounce and Resilience
A standard ball dropped from a height of 1.5 meters onto a standard surface should bounce between 76 and 86 cm. This is the factor that determines the feel of the ball when serving or counter-attacking, and also affects the speed and tempo of the match.
OSUNO balls are made of high-quality impact-resistant polymer plastic, capable of absorbing impact and recovering quickly, helping to maintain a stable bounce even after hundreds of consecutive hits.
3. Roundness and balance
One of the most difficult factors to achieve is absolute roundness – because even a few hundredths of a millimeter deviation can cause the flight path to become unstable. OSUNO uses technology to create a smooth, seamless, seam-free surface, ensuring the ball does not vibrate or deviate when moving at high speed.
Each batch of products is tested for flight trajectory balance by laser sensor, ensuring that during competition, OSUNO balls maintain the highest stability and accuracy.
4. Color and visibility
The ball color is also standardized – usually neon yellow, orange or bright white, making it easy to see in all lighting conditions. OSUNO chooses the USAPA standard neon yellow tone, ensuring high reflectivity, helping players see the ball clearly both indoors and outdoors.
5. Durability and heat resistance
A prominent difference of OSUNO balls lies in their durability in long-term use. The high-quality plastic material is treated with UV protection and good heat resistance, helping the ball not to deform, crack or lose its bounce even when playing under harsh sunlight or in humid environments.
Compared to many other popular ball lines, OSUNO Pickleball balls have an average lifespan 25-30% longer, and are trusted by clubs and professional athletes in training and competition.
Conclude
Pickleball is becoming a new sport trend in Vietnam and choosing a high-quality ball is the decisive factor for players to have the best experience. With advanced production technology and international standards, OSUNO pickleballs are a reliable choice for players, clubs and professional tournaments – durable, stable and accurate in every flight.
